Is it appropriate to go to the doctors with the problem being a phobia?
I’ve struggled with a very common phobia for as long as I can remember.
I am beyond ridiculous with it, but I can’t control myself, I go into panic attack mode and have anxiety issues.
Recently, I’ve not been getting any better dealing with it and the state I get myself into, I think I need to see someone about it but I’m a little skeptical about hypnotherapy since I know little about it.
Would my doctor be able to help or would I be wasting his time since I’m not actually physically ill?!
Thank you
Yes, a doctor would be able to diagnose and direct you to the appropriate specialist. It sounds like you would need to see a psychologist (to get an anti-anxiety, anti-depressant medication) and then see some type of therapist depending on what your condition is stemming from. i.e. trauma, family issues, body image, etc. A doctor will be able to tell you what you need to do. Good luck.
